5 Ways to Find Happiness & Enjoy Winter
There is so much craziness going on in the world right now. Don’t worry I’m not going to list it all! I’m writing this from Tier 4 and with the recent news I felt a strong urge to give you some inspiration and ways you can find happiness and enjoy Winter.
Don’t let your world get smaller
It can be easy to do the same things that find you pleasure over and over again until they are more like a habit and less enjoyable. What new games could you play? What new directions could you take on your walks? Connect with people in local groups on social media for inspiration – find groups linked to something that inpsires you – art, crochet, singing, nature, photography, sport, yoga….what inspires you? What hobbies did you have as a child?
Be creative in your kitchen This time of the year we are more susceptible to coughs and colds so do your best to be healthy. Hearty homemade soups are a great way to incorporate fresh vegetables into your diet. Blend fresh veg and fruit and make homemade smoothies.
Take the time to enjoy home comforts Whether it’s reading a good book, watching a film or simply talking with friends and loved ones, use the additional time indoors to really enjoy the simple things. Arrange group video chats with a theme in mind – a game or discussion or book club maybe?
Allow yourself to just be present
Set your timer to 5 minutes and just allow your full focus to remain with your breathing, your body, the now, what surrounds you? What sound do you hear? What can you see? Don’t think, don’t analyse, just be. If you attention drifts just gently guide it back to your breathing. Tune in, ask yourself what is the kindest thing I can do for myself right now? Listen…what is your body telling you?
Solstice Self Care
Yesterday we celebrated Winter Solstice and from an astrological point of view The Great Conjunction which Cassandra Eve so well describes:
As Jupiter and Saturn connect at 0 Aquarius on 21 December 2020, we are gifted a seed point of a new era. Jupiter brings the vision; Saturn calls for its execution. Together, they empower us to be the architects of our collective future.
So with new beginnings in mind and reflection for the future here is a bath blend to help you do just that…
Add some Rose Geranium, Bergamot & Frankincense oil for a balancing, positive and relaxing soak, see recipe below.
10ml Jojoba Oil
2 drop Rose Geranium oil
2 drops Bergamot oil
3 drops Frankincense oil
Mix all oils together and add to warm running water. For an extra special treat add some Epsom Salts and soak for a minimum of 15 minutes.
