Top 3 Warm Drinks for Radiant Skin
Here are the 3 best warm drinks for radiant skin…
With the recent arrival of freezing temperatures, there’s no better time to take a look at some warm drinks that will help improve your skin, health and well-being.
1) Warm Drink #1 Fresh lemon, ginger & honey
Lemon contains high levels of vitamin C which is needed for so many vital bodily functions.
That’s because vitamin C is key to the production of collagen. Collagen is a protein that aids in the growth of cells and blood vessels and gives skin its firmness and strength.
Both lemon and ginger are high in antioxidants which are key if you want to delay the signs of ageing.
Ginger is a wonderfully warming spice and an excellent digestive aid.
Congested skin can often be a result of a build up of toxins in the digestive system.
Ginger is very cleansing for the digestive tract and holds powerful antibacterial properties.
Not only will this drink improve your skin, it’s a great immune booster…perfect for the season.
Directions: Boil a good chunk of ginger about 2cm long (cubed) in water (Don’t bother peeling it). Strain into a cup. add the juice of one whole lemon and a spoonful of honey to taste.
Choose this as your first drink of the morning to help support and cleanse your liver too!
This is my personal go to recipe if I’m feeling unwell. For a more spicy hot ginger intenstity, top the boiled ginger up with boiling water and let it stew for hours. Re-boil and drink hot later on.
It’s ideal for a sore throat or chesty cough remedy.
2) Warm Drink#2 Green Tea
Green tea is certainly an acquired taste. I prefer mine with Lemon.
If it’s something you have tried and thought ‘I can’t drink that’ then maybe try adding some fresh lemon juice.
Why? Because Green Tea is one of the best sources of antioxidants around. It contains very high levels of polyphenols.
These are chemical compounds that act as a defence mechanism against harmful environmental conditions.
Directions: Pop some fresh green tea leaves into your teapot and leave to brew for a min of 5 minutes for the full benefits.
Add fresh lemon and / or honey to taste or just enjoy on it’s own.
3) Warm Drink #3
Natural Hot Chocolate with Raw Cacao Powder & Cinnamon
Raw Cacao powder is also rich in polyphenol flavonoids and studies have shown that this may help reduce the risk of certain cancers like colon cancer, improve mood, boost memory and improve circulation
By adding some cinnamon you are introducing another powerful cleansing spice.
Cinnamon is excellent at eliminating waste products from your body.
Flushing out toxins and preventing them from clogging your skin.
Cinnamon is also effective at fighting bacteria which cause acne and other skin conditions.
Research shows other health benefits include: warding off Alzheimer’s disease, lower cholesterol and improving a regular menstrual cycle.
This drink is absolutely yummy, it’s warming, comforting, tasty and good for you skin and wellbeing – what more could you want.
Directions: Gently warm a cup of almond milk, add 2-3 tablespoons of raw cacao powder, add 1 teaspoon of agave syrup or honey to sweeten, add a good pinch or two of cinnamon to finish…mmm mmm.
A drink for your skin too perhaps?
So the above recipes are excellent at helping you have beautiful skin from the inside but don’t forget to give your skin a good drink overnight – a good quality facial oil is an excellent way of doing this.
Take a look at Calm Facial oil with Carshalton Lavender oil to help you sleep or Rejuvenate Facial oil with Rose Geranium and Frankincense for a special Egyptian treat.
I hope you enjoy some of these recipes.
