Best Essential oils to Calm & Heal Insect Bites

If you do get caught out then it’s best to have one of these two oils to hand because they are excellent at speedily relieving irritation from insect bites.

Lavender essential oil

FREE 5ml Carshalton Lavender oilLavender oil is one of the essential oils that you can use undiluted on your skin but this is best done occasionally.

Add one drop directly onto a bite for relief from an itchy insect bite. It will soothe and calm the skin.

Alternatively, dilute 1 drop of lavender essential oil into a teaspoon of carrier oil, like Jojoba and apply to the affected area.

A bottle of Lavender oil will last you a very long time if you are only using a few drops at a time so it is a must for your medicine cabinet or first aid kit.

Tea Tree Oil

Tea Tree is an essential oil that you can directly apply to your skin without dilution.  I always advise that this should be done on occasion only.

Tea Tree is has very strong antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.

Applying this to your bite will help reduce the redness and the likelihood of the bite becoming infected.

Add one drop directly onto a bite for relief from itching and to soothe and calm the skin.

If you have particularly sensitive skin you may wish to dilute it first.  Add 1 drop of Tea Tree to a teaspoon of carrier oil, like Jojoba oil apply to the affected area.
