Top 3 Mood Boosters
Top 3 Mood Boosters
Dark and wet winter days on top of the ongoing negativity shared in the news may leave you feeling miserable, a little low or just more anxious than usual.
The good news is that there is always something you can do to lift your mood and reduce anxiety and so I’m sharing with you my personal top 3 mood boosters. Yes hands up, I’m not happy all of the time – I mean who is?
Mood Booster #1
Mood Boosting Essential Oil Bath Blend
3 drops organic Bergamot essential oil
3 drops organic Rose Geranium essential oil
3 drops organic Sweet Orange essential oil
10ml organic Jojoba oil
Blend the above together and mix well before pouring into a warm running bath.
If you don’t have a bath you can always add 1-2 drops of each of the essential oils (ideally 3-5 drops on total) listed above to your oil burner or diffuser. A wonderful scent to start your day.
I absolutely love having a warm hot bath, especially on a cold winter’s day.
Scientific studies show that certain essential oils including all of the above work as natural anti-depressants.
The above blend is a mood lifting and balancing blend with studies showing how Rose Geranium has a regulating effect on our hormones, especially our stress hormones.
Mood Booster #2
Do something you love
You may just feel like staying at home, staying in bed, not doing anything. You may find yourself mindlessly scrolling or searching online.
Instead set aside just a few minutes to do what you love. For me, I love taking photos, I get lost in the moment and these are often of nature so this brings me outside.
What do you love doing? Something that you are able to get lost in and will help bring a little more happiness into your mind?
Crafting? Listening to your favourite music artist? Going for a walk and discovering somewhere new? Reading your favourite poem or author? Painting?
Mood Booster #3
Enjoy a foot massage
To comfort myself and help me feel good I like to give myself a foot massage (or ask my fiance to!) Foot massage is very comforting, soothing and stress relieving.
Just spending 5 minutes massaging your feet is incredibly relaxing and triggers feel good hormones.
You could make your own massage blend using 1 drop of each of the three organic essential oils listed above and just add them to 10ml of a good carrier oil like Jojoba Oil or use a pre blended massage oil like Restore Luxury Body Oil with anxiety reducing lavender oil.
Research Shows
Furthermore foot massage has some amazing overall health benefits. A 1999 study undertaken by a team of researchers from the University of Hertfordshire and published in the Intensive and Critical Care Nursing journal, a five-minute foot massage brought about relaxation to critical care patients, helping to reduce their stress levels and measurably reducing blood pressure and heart rate.1
