DIY Summer Radiant Skin – Glow Naturally This Season
Summer is the season of sunshine, fresh air, and (hopefully) a little more time to relax.
It’s also the time when our skin can feel the effects of heat, sun exposure, and outdoor living.
Whether you’re planning a holiday, enjoying garden time, or just embracing brighter days, it’s the perfect excuse to give your skin some love and radiance – naturally, of course.
Here are my favourite DIY tips for glowing, healthy summer skin – all easy, affordable, and made with ingredients you may already have at home.
1. Gently Buff for Brighter Skin
Sun, sweat and sunscreen can clog pores and dull your skin, so regular gentle exfoliation is essential to keep your glow going.
Try this easy homemade face scrub:
-
1 dessertspoon fine brown sugar (ground down if needed)
-
1 dessertspoon honey
How to use:
Mix the two ingredients and gently massage onto damp skin using light, circular motions. Rinse with warm water and pat dry.
For sensitive skin: Swap sugar for finely ground oats and mix with water to form a soft paste.
Exfoliating 1–2 times a week helps slough off dead cells, stimulate circulation and reveal brighter, softer skin, naturally radiant and summer-ready!
2. Hydrate from the Inside Out

It’s easy to get dehydrated in the warmer months, which affects your skin’s glow. Start your day with:
-
The juice of half a lemon in warm water
-
Optional: A dash of raw honey
This simple ritual supports digestion, boosts hydration and gently detoxifies, helping your skin look clearer and more luminous.
Keep sipping water throughout the day and your skin will thank you.
3. Foot Revival for Sandal Season

Our poor feet are often forgotten, yet they take a pounding, especially when exposed in sandals or barefoot around the house and garden!
Try this DIY foot scrub:
-
1 tbsp coconut oil
-
2 dessertspoons jojoba or olive oil
-
2 tbsp Epsom salts (or coffee grounds / brown sugar as alternatives)
-
1-2 drops of your favourite essential oil (peppermint is perfect for feet and summer)
Method:
Start by mixing your essential oil into the jojoba or olive oil – this ensures it’s properly diluted before being applied to your skin.
Then combine the coconut oil, the carrier oil blend, and finally stir in the Epsom salts (or your exfoliant of choice).
Massage into each foot for 5 minutes, focusing on dry, rough areas.
Rinse with warm water and dry carefully (it can be slippery!).
Extra Tip: Use any remaining scrub on your hands and they’ll feel silky smooth.
4. Lock in the Glow
After exfoliating, apply a nourishing moisturiser or body oil while your skin is still damp.
I love using Restore Luxury Body Oil, which contains calming lavender and deeply nourishing ingredients like Rosehip and Argan oils.
It absorbs beautifully, leaving your skin silky-soft and soothed – especially if you’ve caught a bit too much sun.
Bonus:Use a small amount on your hair as an overnight treatment.
Just massage a few pumps into your scalp and ends, wrap in a towel, and let it work its magic while you sleep.
5. Create Your Summer Spa Ritual at home

Whether it’s once a week or once a month, make time for a personal pamper session. Here’s how to create your own summer spa sanctuary:
-
Warm up your bathroom or chosen space
-
Switch off your devices
-
Diffuse essential oils (try lavender, bergamot, or geranium)
-
Soak in a warm bath with a handful of Epsom or Dead Sea salts
-
Sip on a herbal tea or fruit-infused water
-
Use your favourite mask, oil or cream
-
Finish by wrapping up in a soft robe and doing… nothing!
You deserve time to unwind and reconnect with yourself.
Final Thoughts
Summer is about lightness, warmth and joy. Let your skin reflect that. A few simple rituals can help you look radiant and feel grounded.
Whether it’s a 10-minute face scrub or a full evening of spa bliss, every little bit of self-care adds up.
Which of these will you try first?
