Make Your Life Easier in 2026 (A gentler January reset)

How you can Make Your Life Easier in 2026

make your life easier in 2024

I usually start my day around 6.30am. But in the heart of winter, when the sun doesn’t rise until much later, I’ll be honest, getting out of bed before daylight can feel like a real effort.

So all those “New Year, New You, fresh start, go-go-go” messages that arrive in early January? They’ve never really resonated with me.

And this January, I’ve noticed something different.

For once it feels like more people are embracing a slower start – fewer big declarations, more quiet honesty, and a real desire to begin the year in a way that’s sustainable (rather than exhausting). If that’s you, you’re in good company.

When I look out of the window at this time of year, the trees are bare. Nature is quiet. Resting. Dormant.

And that’s the biggest reminder of all:

Winter isn’t the season for pushing. It’s the season for pausing.

Winter invites us to reflect, to be gentle with ourselves, and to nourish and restore our bodies – not to rush headlong into reinvention.

If you’ve felt behind, unmotivated, or not quite ready to set intentions for 2026, please know this: nothing is wrong with you. You’re simply moving in rhythm with the season.

Reflection first, action later

The natural season for new beginnings is spring. So rather than forcing resolutions in January, I always encourage starting with reflection.

By taking time to reflect, you naturally make your life easier as the year unfolds.

Give yourself permission to slow down.

Here are four gentle questions to help you reflect on 2025, with a few example answers for inspiration. There are no right or wrong responses, only what feels true for you.

1. What was your biggest achievement? What made you feel proud?

  • Eating breakfast regularly instead of skipping it

  • Reaching a personal best, however small it seemed

  • Staying well through winter

  • Navigating big family changes – children leaving home, returning home, or changing dynamics

  • Simply keeping going through a challenging year

2. What were your most meaningful moments?

  • A surprise celebration with friends you hadn’t seen in years

  • A quiet cup of tea and a moment to yourself

  • A weekend away with people who truly get you

  • Welcoming a new addition to your family

  • Time spent in nature, even on ordinary days

3. What three lessons did you learn in 2025?

  • I don’t have to do everything on my own – asking for help matters

  • Essential oils are powerful and need to be used correctly (peppermint and bath water still don’t mix!)

  • My body needs deep rest and nervous-system calm to stay well

  • My body truly thrives on regular ‘me time’

4. If you could relive 2025, what would you do differently?

  • Change direction sooner

  • Move or make changes at home earlier

  • Exercise more gently and more consistently

  • Make more time for myself without guilt

  • Eat less chocolate… or at least enjoy it more mindfully!

Four areas of wellbeing to support you in 2026

Once you’ve reflected, you may start to sense what you want more of in 2026.

Below are four key areas of wellbeing to gently explore. There’s no need to work on all of them – simply notice which one feels most supportive right now.

Each statement is written using positive language, because your subconscious responds far better to what you want, rather than what you’re trying to avoid.

(For example, saying “Remember” rather than “Don’t forget” , the word ‘don’t’ often gets lost!)

Physical Health & Wellbeing

natural ways to boost your immune system

  • I move my body regularly in ways that feel good to me

  • I take care of my skin daily with simple, nourishing rituals

  • I support my health with good nutrition and hydration

  • I make time for bodywork or massage to counteract stress

  • I listen to my body and respond before burnout appears

Emotional Health & Wellbeing

  • I allow myself to feel and express my emotions

  • I feel emotionally steadier and more resilient

  • I trust myself and my inner wisdom

  • I focus on what I want to create, not just the problems

  • I know that I am enough, exactly as I am

Spiritual Health & Wellbeing

  • I practise small daily acts of kindness

  • I nourish my inner world with positive thoughts and affirmations

  • I forgive others and myself, freeing up emotional space

  • I make time for stillness, meditation, or quiet reflection

  • I read or listen to things that uplift and inspire

Environmental Health & Wellbeing

  • My home feels calm, organised, and supportive

  • I know where things are and feel able to breathe in my space

  • My workspace feels welcoming and nourishing

  • I spend time outdoors and connect with nature

  • I take regular breaks and notice my surroundings

A simple 5-minute exercise

If you read any statement and thought “I wish that were true”, try this:

Set a timer for just five minutes.

Write freely – without editing – all the small, realistic steps that could move you closer to that intention.

Tiny shifts add up faster than big overhauls.

If you’re in the mood for a little extra support this winter, these might help:

Making life easier in 2026

2025 was a busy and demanding year for many of us. The question I’m carrying forward is a simple one:

“What can I do to make my life easier?”

Here are a few practical ideas you might explore:

  • Set clearer boundaries and practise saying ‘no’ more often

  • Ask for help – whether that’s a cleaner, support at work, or family support

  • Batch-cook simple, nourishing meals to reduce daily pressure

  • Create a simple ‘scent ritual’ at home to help you switch off (my At Home Aromatherapy PDF Starter Kit was created for exactly this)

  • Build small self-care rituals into your week instead of saving them for ‘someday’

If you’d like support

If you’d like help to:

  • create realistic self-care habits

  • reduce stress and feel more grounded

  • reconnect with your body and your wellbeing

  • make life feel calmer and more manageable

I’d love to support you.

I offer a range of therapy sessions, from short focused treatments to longer, deeply restorative sessions (including Organic Aromatherapy Massage and nourishing facials).

If and when your intentions for 2026 become clear, feel free to share them – sometimes speaking them aloud is the first step towards making them real.

If you’d like to ask a question or find the right option for you, you can send me a message here.

Take care of yourself. Gently. Consistently. Without guilt.

I would love to hear your intentions for 2025 so whenever they come to you feel free to share below and take the first step towards your realising your dreams and reaching your goals.

All the best for 2026 and remember TAKE care of YOU!

Best wishes, Louisa x
